Neuromodulator Treaments

Neuromodulator treatments, such as Botox®, treat dynamic facial wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that produce those wrinkles. Dynamic facial wrinkles are wrinkles that are caused by repeated muscle movements, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles. Neuromodulator injections inhibit the contractions of carefully-targeted muscles, allowing the creases they produce in the skin to smooth.

Neuromodulators are also known as also known as injectable neurotoxins. The word “toxin” in “neurotoxin” might sound a little intimidating, but treatments such as Botox® are safe and FDA approved. Neurotoxins get their name because they are derived from the Botulinum toxin. Aside from their use in aesthetic treatments, neurotoxins also have medicinal qualities and are used in migraine treatments and treatments for some muscular disorders. They are administered by qualified professionals in carefully regulated doses to produce the effect necessary for the patient’s needs.
